End of on-site exchange
In Italy, in 2024, some significant changes will be implemented in the photovoltaic energy sector. Here is a summary based on several sources:
End of Net Metering: From 2024, the "net metering" mechanism will be abolished. This service, offered by the GSE (Energy Services Manager) to owners of residential photovoltaic systems, allowed them to virtually store the energy produced in excess for subsequent use.
Sale of Excess Energy: With the end of net metering, it is expected that owners of photovoltaic systems will be able to sell excess energy.
Bonus for Photovoltaic Systems: In 2024 and 2025, the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security has allocated a fund of 200 million euros as part of the "energy income", intended for families in economic difficulty. This fund is distributed on an ISEE basis (Equivalent Economic Situation Indicator), and the requirements to access this incentive include an ISEE of less than 15,000 euros or 30,000 euros if you have at least 4 dependent children. The systems installed through the incentive must have a minimum nominal power of 2 kW and no more than 6 kW.
Tax Deduction for Renovations: There is a tax deduction of 50% of the expenses incurred for maintenance interventions, accessible until 31 December 2024.
Other Incentives under Study: Although no new specific incentives have been announced, the Budget Plan Document for 2024 mentions the possible introduction of exemption or facilitation mechanisms to encourage the production of energy from biomass or other renewable resources.
These measures represent part of Italy's efforts to promote renewable energy and support families in economic difficulty.
